about us
Mission
“New Horizon is a Church that teaches people, through the Power of The Holy Spirit,
to become mature followers of Jesus Christ
”
Vision
- To see every member a “minister in the marketplace”,
witnessing of Jesus Christ by living His example in our life and sharing
what He has done for us.
- To win our community as members become witnesses in their place of employment
and schools, and to pray in the harvest of souls.
- To work for a united effort of the Body of Christ to destroy the influence
satan has in this community.
Who are we?
New Horizon Community Church began in January of 2005 with a vision
to make church real, practical and enjoyable for individuals and families
without a significant church connection. This non-denominational congregation
grew out of a desire of several couples for a church that helps men, women
and children to know God and His plans for them in their daily lives.
Why Are We Here?
The Five-fold purpose of New Horizon is to bring people to
Jesus and membership in His family, develop
them to Christ-like maturity, equip them for
their ministry in the church and life mission
in the world in order to magnify God's name.
What Do We Offer?
New Horizon meets each Sunday at 1816 Petersburg road in Hebron, Kentucky.
Our 11:00 AM worship service features contemporary music, personal testimonies,
prayer and Biblically based practical messages. A special time of fun
and study for newborns through sixth graders takes place during our adult
services. The congregation meets, on Wednesday evenings for fellowship and Bible study.
WHAT WE BELIEVE
About Mankind
We are all made in the spiritual image of God, to be like Him in character.
We are the supreme object of God's love. Although mankind has tremendous
potential for good, we are marred by attitudes and actions of disobedience
toward God called "sin". This sin separates us from God which is spiritual
death.
Genesis 1:27, Psalm 8: 3-6, Isaiah 53:6a, Romans 3:23, Isaiah 59:1-2
About God
God is the Creator and Ruler of the universe. He has eternally existed in
three persons: the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.
Genesis 1:1, 26-27, 3:22, Psalm 90:2, Matthew 28:19, I Peter 1:2,
II Corinthians 13:4
About the Bible
The Bible is God's Word to all mankind. It was written by men of God;
under the supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit It is the supreme source
of truth all Mankind. Because it is inspired by God, it is truth without
error.
II Timothy 3:16, II Peter 1:20-21, 11, Timothy 1:13, Psalm 12:6, 119:105,
160 Proverbs 30:5
About Jesus Christ
Jesus Christ is the Son of God. He came to earth fully God and fully
man through a miraculous conception and virgin birth. He lived a sinless
human life and offered Himself as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of
all people by dying on a cross. He arose bodily from the dead after three
days to demonstrate His power over sin and death. He ascended to heaven
and will return personally and visibly to earth to reign as King of Kings
and Lord of Lords.
Matt 1:22,23: Isaiah 9:6, John 1:1-5, 14:10-30, Hebrews 4:14,15, I Corinthians
15:3-4, Romans 1:3-4, Acts 1:9-11, I Timothy 6:14-15, Titus 2:13
About Salvtion
Salvation is a gift from God to mankind. We can never make up for our sin
by self improvement or good works. Only by trusting in Jesus Christ as God's
Son and Offering for forgiveness can we be saved from sin's penalty.
Salvation begins the moment we admit we have sinned, forsake our sins and
receive Jesus Christ into our life by faith.
Romans 6:23, Ephesians 2:8-9, John 1:46, John 1:12, Titus 3:5, Galatians 3:26, Romans 5:1
About the Baptism in the Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit is the Comforter, counselor and Helper for all believers.
Jesus said The Father would send another Comforter, after He went to be with
the Father and He would be the Holy Spirit. Jesus said the Holy Spirit will
be with us and in us. This all took place on the day of Pentecost in the
upper room and is for all of God’s people. This experience with God is in
addition to Salvation and is not necessary to be saved. He is present in
the world to make mankind aware of our need for salvation through Jesus
Christ. He empowers the believer to understand truth, He also brings boldness
and He distributes the Gifts of the Spirit for the common good of the Body
of Christ.
Joel 2:28-29, John 15:26, Acts 2:2-4. Acts 10:44-46, Acts 19:1-7,
I Corinthians 12:7-11
About Eternity
We all were created to exist forever. We will either exist eternally
separated from God by sin, or in union with God through forgiveness and
salvation. The place of eternal separation from God is called Hell. Heaven
is the place of eternal union and eternal life with God.
John 3:16, Romans 6:23, Revelation 20:25, Matthew 25:41, Revelation 21:27
About the Church
The true church is made up of everyone who acknowledges Jesus Christ
as Savior and Lord. The local church exists to organize Christians to
share the message of salvation with unbelievers, offer corporate worship,
provide fellowship for Christians and to train Christians for service.
Water baptism and communion are practiced by the local church, but
they are not a means of salvation.
